Do you have a much loved family pet?
Whether it's a pure bred show dog or cat, or a rescue animal that looked up at you with those big sad eyes,
we would be lost without them wouldn't we?
So why not celebrate the joy these pets bring us with a stitching project?
One of Lynette's most popular small quilts is
A Dog's Life
Originally a block of the month program, this four pattern set has been made in a number of different colour ways
and always draws a crowd when on display.
This fun quilt introduces some of Hugo's new doggie friends. Jet (the black dog) belongs to one of Lynette's sons, Beau the brown Labrador belongs to her mum and dad and Rosie, a very much loved poodle from Lynette's past. Lynette designed it with animal lovers in mind and used subtle dirty colours, which also makes it ideal for a boy. She has combined fusible appliqué, simple embroidery, piecing and of course some of her favourite yo-yo's.
Choose to make yours using either needle turn appliqué or blanket stitch applique - either technique would look great for this quilt.
Finished quilt size approx. 106 cm x 117 cm (42" x 46")
Or if you have some fabrics of your own, you can buy the pattern in a printed form, or as a download.
If you are after a smaller project, month 1 of A Dog's Life has been made into a cushion -
Flower Power Puppy Pillow
This playful puppy is patiently waiting amongst the flowers for someone to come and play with him.
Approx. finished size 45cm (17½”) square
Welcome Home Pillow
features a rooster and his "girls" in the front paddock, with some contented sheep grazing on the hill below the farm house.
Simple piecing and embroidery are used to great effect in this pillow.
Available as a printed pattern, or downloadable pattern.
Finished size 14" square.
And for a small project either for yourself or as a gift, we have
Friendship Tea Pouch
What is it that quilters and stitchers love about bags and pouches where we keep all our sewing ‘stuff’? You can never have too many of these items and making them is as much fun as having them, using them and seeing the envy in another stitchers’ eyes when they see what you are using!! Lynette had fun immortalising her furry friends along with a favourite hot drink on the front of this project and on the back are the sweetest scrappy ½” hexagons.
Finished size approx. 8” x 6”
